Product Overview

Nisin is a polycyclic antibacterial peptide produced by the bacterium Lactococcus lactis. It is the first bacteriocin to be approved as a food preservative and is classified as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) by the FDA. Nisin is particularly effective against Gram-positive bacteria, including spore-forming bacteria.

As a natural antimicrobial agent, nisin offers clean-label appeal and is increasingly used as an alternative to chemical preservatives. It is highly effective at low concentrations and maintains activity across a wide pH range.
